Excalibur

Excalibur Hotel and Casino is one of the most iconic hotels in Las Vegas, Nevada. Built in the style of a medieval castle, the Excalibur was opened in 1990 by Circus Circus Enterprises. The hotel’s name and theme are based on the legendary sword of King Arthur, Excalibur.

The Excalibur was built with a massive 4,032 rooms, making it one of the largest hotels in Las Vegas at the time of its opening. The hotel features a large casino, multiple restaurants, a pool area, a spa and fitness center, and a theater where regular shows take place. The hotel also offers a variety of entertainment options, including a tournament-style medieval dinner show, a nightly medieval jousting tournament, and a live-action King Arthur’s Arena show.

The hotel’s design is inspired by medieval Europe, with its castle-like towers and drawbridge entrance. Inside, the hotel features a medieval-inspired decor, with suits of armor and tapestries adorning the walls. The hotel also features a large indoor shopping mall, known as the Tournament of Kings shopping area, which includes a variety of shops and restaurants.

The Excalibur’s location on the Las Vegas Strip also makes it a popular destination for tourists, as it is located next to other famous hotels and casinos such as Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

The hotel had been a popular destination for tourists, however in recent years, the hotel had struggled to maintain its reputation and faced criticism for its outdated facilities and lack of upkeep. In 2020 MGM Resorts, the current owner of the property announced a $90m renovation that will include remodeling of 2,000 rooms and suites, new casino and public space, and a new entertainment experience as well. The renovations had been planned to take place during 2020 and 2021.

Despite its challenges, the Excalibur remains an iconic and enduring part of the Las Vegas landscape. With its unique theme and location, it continues to be a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike.
